Evonik attended the 2019 International Technical Textiles Symposium (ITTS) in Taiwan

At this symposium, Evonik exhibited a polo-shirt made with VESTAMID® terra, a sustainable bio-polyamide textile raw material from business line High Performance Polymers, and a piece of artificial leather coated with waterborne polyurethane (PU) foam made from products of business line Comfort & Insulation. Evonik is committed to support the Taiwanese textile industry via cross-business line participation in the textile value chain. By joining this event, Evonik expects to establish a dialogue with the industrial players on developing novel functional textile materials and exploring new business opportunities for the future.

Polyurethane-based artificial leather is used in a variety of applications, as a sustainable and effective alternative to natural leather. At this year’s ITTS, Mr. Zheng Zhu, Regional Technology Manager for high density PU, was invited to introduce Evonik’s products and technologies of waterborne polyurethane dispersions for foam-coated textiles. Several product inquiries were received afterwards. Taking the opportunity, the Evonik PU additive experts also visited potential artificial leather and textile customers like Nanya and HOYU to gain insights on customers’ needs and expectations.
